Foreclosures Embrace All And Sundry Without Distinctions!

In Florida foreclosures are all-embracing and pull under its umbrella all kinds making no differences as regards areas or income figures. This is what the figures tell by a survey conducted by a group of attorneys. More than 1,400 house owners had been interviewed during the middle of June. Of these 16% were directly or indirectly connected to the foreclosure disgrace. In almost all the markets surveyed nearly 10% of the borrowers have been thus involved. It is the same story with more than 15% of each of the three income groups.

An online tracking agency that has been one of the first one to make figures talk, shows that one out of every 431 units in the state was enmeshed in some form of foreclosure process. July 2007 saw a 78% increase from July 2006.

There is a common wrong conception among Florida residents that it is the low income sector that is widely affected. The general idea is that the contagion is confined to the poorer neighbourhoods. But the reality is quite different. The contagion is spreading to all pockets and corners of society and locality right across the state.

The survey showed that the majority of house owners – about 56%, in Florida are ready to buy foreclosed units. Approximately 17% were emphatic that they would not do so and 27% were wavering and undecided.

Far from being contained to any locale, the foreclosure is spilling over the national borders and touching thousands across the globe. Wall Street shocks are being felt all over the world. There is a hurry and scurry with the blaming game. One blames the other while stocks tumble as bank funds dry up. Banks cannot rest content on idle property. The property must fetch money for banks to be mobile and moving. Without money going around there are not takers for properties. Interest rises while property rates fall. Here the matter does not end. The snowballing effect touches the socio-economic front. Properties belonging to neither the banks nor the borrowers remain in a state of limbo – sad and neglected in the midst of overgrown grass, stagnant pools, breeding mosquitoes, snakes and frogs. These are happy hunting grounds for vagrants and boisterous drug parties. Residents still around are spending anxious sleepless nights. The local authorities do not have enough teeth to tackle such an unforeseen situation.
